"Brick by Boring Brick" is expected to be the second single from the album, with "The Only Exception" to follow as the third single.

The first single from the album was "Ignorance", which was made available via digital download on July 7, on the same date the album became available for pre-order on Paramore's official website. The title Brand New Eyes was based on a track that was later cut from the album and means "seeing everything in a whole new perspective." After which they were able to openly discussed their problems with each other. Before it was written, they were at the the point of splitting, but through the lyrics and the music, they let their emotions out at each other. The recording process was seen as "therapy" by the band. Williams described this period as "really stressful". It was the first time they had undergone pre-production without the guidance of a producer.
Pre-production took place took place in Nashville for six weeks before the band headed to California to record.
